Ten thousand soldiers on flood standby

I have just read an article in austriantimes.at about flood.

Basically what it says is that ten thousand soldiers have been out to standby amid flood fears in Austria. The soldiers are ready to be called out to deal with flooding after the weatherman protected more of the heavy rains that have swept the country over the last few days.

Upper and Lower Austria and Vienna were most at risk. The Danube river is expected to peak on Friday morning.

There had already been flooding in Steyr, Upper Austria, where high water from the Enns river reached a dangerous level.

The south and the west of Austria have received much lower amounts of rainfall and don’t face the threat of any flooding.

Austrian surfer rescued at Adriatic Sea

I have just read an article in austriantimes.at about an Austrian surfer.
I thought you might be interested because it happened very often that people had an accident with surfboards.

Basically what it says is that Ottmar Streiter was rescued after having a problem with his surfboard in the southern Adriatic Sea.
Streiter, 72, is known as a very good surfer. He has spent his holidays for years in Croatia.
His friends suspected something was wrong when he had not returned at home after four hours. They informed the police and the maritime-rescue.

The Rescuers found him on the northern side of Korcula Island. Streiter’s surfboard had broken and he had been swept away by a strong wind but he managed to reach the island’s coast.

Resuming up I can say that I’m happy that there are good rescue-teams at Croatia.

Eighteen hurt in Styria crash

I have just read an article in austriantimes.at about a crash in Styria.
I thought you might be interesting, because sleeping at the wheel happened very often.

Basically what it says is that the driver of the bus fell asleep. So the bus veered off the road and flipped over.

18 people out of 48 are hurt. They were taken to hospitals in Graz, Deutschlandsberg and Voitsberg.

After the crash the whole highway was closed for five hours.

Sleeping at the wheel causes 100 traffic deaths annually in Austria.

I can’t understand why people drive a car, when they are tired. I would never drive a car, when I’m tired because this is very dangerous.

Inflation lowest since 1999

I have just read an article in austriantimes.at and it talks about inflation.
I thought you might be interessting because everybody is affected.

Basically what it says is that inflation in May was just 0.3 per cent. That is the smallest monthly rise since April 1999.

It also says that prices in May were 0.3 per cent higher than in April.

What surprised me most is the fact that the price of crude oil has to begun to increase again.

Red Bull

We have just read an article in Austrian Times and it talks about “Red Bull Coke".

Basically what it says is that researchers found cocaine in the Red Bull coke.
Many people were frightened of this news and that is not very good for the business. The Austrian Health Ministry said there was no danger of becoming addicted to the drink.

In our opinion the hole commotion was for nothing.
